If you’re here you probably love perusing your local real estate listings and daydreaming of an upgrade. But with high-interest rates gatekeeping our new spaces, many of us are stuck chilling in rental purgatory. In the meantime, I’ve realized sometimes the best escape can be an upgrade from within! In the last few weeks, my family has enlisted the services of a home organizer to help us make the best use of the space we have. So far we’ve made a lot of progress on the kids’ rooms and the pantry. It has been SO refreshing to donate some of the extra stuff we no longer need. What are some of the ways you have been making your spaces work for you during this tough market?

Of course, there are some homes that are just SO big, you could shop forever and never run out of storage. At 9k square feet, this next property is one such house. Plus, with all the activities this place has to offer, you’d never even need to leave. Like golf? Play tennis? How about basketball? Swimming? What about different wallpaper in every room and mirrors on the ceiling?

Before we check out our main listing, don’t forget to find more links at the bottom of this newsletter. Today we’ve got:

  • 🍳Kitchen Katastrophes: Three kitchens that will make you grateful for your own thought-out layout.

  • 🌴Jungle Joints: Why spend money on vacation when you’ve got a jungle in your own basement?

  • 💰Pricey Palaces: Three of the most expensive properties currently for sale in the U.S., all over $100m. Do you think they’re worth it?

  • ⚾Stadium Seating: Three apartments that offer unbelievable views of stadiums across the U.S.

Now, let’s check out this massive mansion in Louisiana, shall we? We’ll start with the bird’s-eye view.

It is something else. Here’s what greets you when you pull up the driveway:

Before we head inside, I have to give you the wallpaper warning. There’s a lot of it. And it ain’t always pretty… With five bedrooms and nine (!) bathrooms, I can’t show you every single one, but here are some…highlights.

I’ll give you a moment to process all that. Because I’m about to give you your second wallpaper warning. Ready?

Kitchen:

This house was built in 1982… and you can tell. Peep the mirrored ceiling in the dining room. And that’s not the only one… there are more mirrored ceilings in some of the beds and bathrooms.

And as a bonus, the conservatory (does anyone actually have a conservatory outside of the game of Clue!) features some puffy cloud wallpaper on the ceiling (ceiling paper?) instead. Just to mix things up a bit.

If you’re wondering what else this mansion has to offer, there is a fabulous great room that (sort of) makes up for the wallpaper crimes.

There’s also a bar, game room, office, and, get this… a combination sewing room and beauty salon. No joke!

But let’s head outside because that’s where the magic happens. The heated saltwater pool, hot tub, and pool deck patio are completely enclosed by this enormous screen house, so that’s pretty neat.

And I wasn’t lying about tennis or basketball; there are courts for both.

In addition to an entire guest house on site, this property neighbors the exclusive Ellendale Country Club golf course; just stroll over to the clubhouse for your tee time.

Oh, and if you get bored of your private paradise, you can take the 1-hour drive for some fun in New Orleans. Laissez les bon temps rouler!

This one’s on the market for a cool $2.2 mill, but I don’t even want to think about the taxes or how much it would cost to strip all that wallpaper.

What’s your take, friends? I don’t think I’ll be heading to the bayou any time soon, but maybe this wallpapered wonder is your dream come true!
