He’s celebrating the 5th of May 😉
Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo… which means we gotta pre-game somewhere. Hear me out: we head to Milwaukee, WI to an antique home with the charm of Jay Gatsby: it’s a little 1920s, it’s a little boisterous about its beauty, and it’s a whole lot of fun.

Built in 1912, this massive single-family home has 7 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, and over 9k sqft of space. It sits on a 1.32 acre lot full of multiple garages, heated concrete floors, a $3.7 million dollar price tag, and a and a “charming coach house” -which I can only assume is a fancy way to say “guest house.”

As we approach the entrance, the glamour of the money put into this place is apparent.

Inside, a moody dark aesthetic welcomes us. Couldn’t you see a party hosted in here? I mean, there’s a spherical bar cart. It’s so dated, so academic, so… cool.
If dark colors aren’t your vibe, there’s a white living room:

Alright everyone! Please freshen up before supper, in the powderroom:

Honestly, this bathroom might pre-date the invention of the term “powderroom”. From the corner sink, the toilet pipes that extend to the ceiling, and that wallpaper, this space is a time capsule of time… before all of us.
On our way to dinner, we’ll pass by the study. Make sure to grab a quick peak:

This office brings the design of yesteryear with the grunge of today. I’m in love with those straight-edge windows, the built-in shelves, and the space to relax as well.
Prepare to be (quite frankly) underwhelmed by the kitchen…

Don’t you love when the kitchen island was clearly an afterthought? What wasn't an afterthought was the fireplace in the middle of the kitchen. It’s not 1912 anymore -and now there’s an oven- but once upon a time, maybe that was the oven.

We’ve made it to the dining room. Those dark and light colors converge into a beautiful place to eat a meal. It’s grand. It’s elegant. But it’s got a bit of character (re: the bare wooden table).

Upstairs, there are bedrooms galore. Which one is the primary suite? I couldn’t tell you nor does it matter because they’re all absolutely gorgeous. My personal favorite is the blue one. It reminds me of fancy, ornate porcelain. Which would you choose?

With all the bedrooms, you’ll need a closet to match the elegance. And this walk-on closet… wow. It’s more of a “run around” closet with the square-footage it takes up.

Not to humble this place, but the excessive tiling almost makes it look tacky… cheap… like peel-and-stick tiles -which are great, but not for this luxury-touting place.
Before we head outside, I’ve gotta highlight a few spaces we skipped over: a sunroom study, a dark gothic staircase, and this gentle blue nursery:

Outside, we’re still waltzing through the promenade of luxury…

But, huh? No pool? How can this place be listed for $3.7 million dollars but not have a darn pool?!
I’ll tell you why: we’re in Wisconsin. It’s only “pool weather” for 4 months out of the year… and I guess the owners don’t want to deal with the upkeep…

What’s going on the other 8 months of the year? Simple springs, white winters, and fabulous falls. The grand lawn looks glorious in green, and in white.
Wait… is that a body of water? There’s all these bits and bobs in the house, but nowhere did it mention private beach access!

For all its faults, I am still vibing with this place. And I hope you had a good time as well. Until next week: have a great Cinco de Mayo, and May the Fourth be with you 😉
