Here is something I’ve learned after selling real estate since Jesus was a baby: you already have access to the best listing tool you’ll ever have. Nope, it’s not your fancy website with every bell and whistle. No, it’s not the super cool drone footage of your latest property. Not even the fact that you can rattle off market stats like you’ve got a PhD from Zillow University. No, ma’am. While all of that is nice to have, none of that is at the heart of it all.

So, what is?

It’s you. You are what’s what people are buying when they choose an agent. You are your own best listing tool.

I see so many agents trying to polish themselves into some bland, “professional” version of what they think a client wants. But here’s the truth: nobody hires vanilla. Clients don’t want the Stepford agent who looks like they were cut and pasted from Central Casting. They want someone they connect with. They’re looking for someone they can trust with the biggest financial decision of their whole damn lives. So they want a person who feels real.

When people watch my videos, do y’all think they’re really tuning in just to see a floorplan? Oh, please. They can look up listings online until Gabriel blows his horn. People watch my videos because I’m the one who’s telling the story.

I’m making them feel something and I’m doing it in my own way—Southern drawl, big hair, loud laugh, and all. I don’t apologize for it, because this is the only thing no one else can duplicate.

Now, I want y’all to think about Taylor Swift. (Obviously, I cannot get her out of my mind as I’ve only had a couple of hours to digest this news as I’m writing this! OMS, we have a wedding to plan!) Anyway, Taylor didn’t spend her career trying to please everybody. She figured out early on who she was talking to, and she leaned all the way in. That’s why we’ve already covered how she makes it all about her fans.

What we haven’t yet covered is that she accomplished this by letting her personality drive the connection. She never wasted time clapping back at haters. Instead, she continued to build her world for the people who understood it. And look at her now…

Taylor doesn’t sell songs; she sells Taylor. And that’s the playbook for all of us.

So my call to action today is to stop hiding behind bland graphics, generic captions, and cookie-cutter marketing. I want y’all to show up on camera. Use your real voice. Talk like you’re speaking to your best friend. You’re not broadcasting; instead, you’re having a one-on-one conversation. The feeling of that one-on-one convo with your bestie is why millions of fans are feeling boundless joy today over Taylor’s engagement. She’s taken us with her through her whole life. Every single one of her lyrics comes from her heart, so now that her heart is full, we all feel it.

I want y’all to tell stories and don’t be afraid to laugh at yourself, especially when you get it wrong. Because that’s how we become memorable.

Now, here’s the deal: clients might not recall the square footage, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel when you were walking through it. They’ll remember how you made them laugh and when you calmed them down when they were spinning out. They’ll remember that you made them believe that this big, scary transaction could actually be joyful. And that is why when they’re ready to sell or buy, they’ll pick you every time. This is not because you were the most polished agent on Instagram, but because you were the most you.

Stop trying to be perfect all the time.

Start being unforgettable.
