What’s new, friends?
Today, we are heading to Vaughan, Ontario, an affluent suburb of Toronto, to check out a real-life Beauty & the Beast castle! And after that, stick around for some ⛳Modest Mini-Golf houses, three homes with putting greens for under $250k, some🧡Midcentury Masterpieces, three rustic🐓Kountry Kitchens, and finally, three 🦓Surprising Safaris, properties for sale that come with some truly wild animals.
We’ll begin our castle tour with an aerial shot. I’m surprised they were able to preserve so much privacy on a fairly small lot compared to the size of the home, which is over 17,000 square feet.
Let’s start with the Great Room, which, in this ’90s castle, feels a bit like the owner said, “Just make it like Beauty and the Beast.”
Despite being a bit Disney-adjacent, it feels well-executed. The parquet floor, the fireplace, the stained glass, the Juliet balcony… Seriously, look!
There’s also a pretty interesting kitchen set-up, which I’m sure was the height of fashion when it was built, but those teal countertops are going to have to go.
Things start to get a little wild in the primary suite, which, FYI, is gigantic. Here’s the bedchamber (I just wanted to say bedchamber):
The primary suite has its own trompe l’oeil “exterior” sitting room. When it’s snowing outside, you can still enjoy a warm spring day in this coastal scene.
And then there’s the bathroom…
We’ve made it to the Little Mermaid part of this Disney castle, and these murals are just A LOT. But no worries, there are 12 other bathrooms to choose from in this home. That should be enough to do what you need to do without a mermaid looking over your shoulder.
Now, let’s talk amenities!
There’s a library. With real library ladders! I can just see Belle singing on them now…
Of course, no castle is complete without a pool with a lagoon with its own waterfall…
And it’s also got…
A full-size basement shuffleboard…
A wine cellar…
A lounge…
A conservatory…
And this staircase. Whoa.
The property also has stained glass accents and statuary throughout. But I’ve saved the best for last because who wouldn’t want to have a meal in this dining room?
It’s a bit hard to tell, but those winged creatures floating around in that post-apocalyptic ceiling-scape are some sort of genie-dragon goblins. A bit of a departure from your typical nude winged babies with harps.
If the murals haven’t turned you off from this castle, there’s one more problem… I haven’t told you the price tag yet. Ready?
$9,998,000 Canadian, which is still over $7m in U.S. dollars. But whatever dollars that’s in, I don’t have them.
‘Til next time!
