Make a Difference in Your Community, The Sequel
WELCOME
What a whirlwind of a week! I am back from Los Angeles, where I had the distinct pleasure of appearing on Lewis Howes’s School of Greatness podcast. Oh, my stars was that fun! And then I spoke at a Mastermind event for Luxury Presence. There was a dinner afterwards in a $30M Beverly Hills home, which just about knocked my socks off! Then, I’m home for a minute before I leave for Las Vegas next week. Whew!
This week, we’re continuing with our theme of becoming an active participant in your community. Last time, we discussed giving back. Today is all about involvement. The short of it is, being involved is good for visibility, it’s good for business, and it’s good for some fun. So let’s get to it!

THE REALITY OF REAL ESTATE
That’s the question on everyone’s mind, isn’t it?
There’s been so much chaos and uncertainty lately that it can feel hard to figure out a path forward. And everyone has a different opinion. Half of everyone I talk to says if the Democrats are elected, that’s going to bring stability to the market. The other half says, if the Republicans are elected, they’re going to buy as much as they can because this will give them tax protection.
Truly, I don’t know what to think.
I decided to do a deep dive into the issue and I still came up empty-handed in terms of understanding the right path forward. But one of the most telling quotes is this:
“The challenges that impact housing today are unfortunately more structural than policy-driven, which means it will be very difficult for any administration to do anything that truly affects the market.”
The bottom line is, no one has a crystal ball and can tell what the fall will bring. (Also, I try to avoid the news as much as possible.)
But I will say this; I won’t allow the election cycle to impact my business.
The one thing I can promise you is that no matter what, life will go on. That’s why I’m closing on a new investment property this Friday. I can’t control the whole world, but I can control my impact on a little piece of it. And my little piece refuses to be paralyzed by the what ifs.

STORY TIME WITH GLENNDA
Community Organizers
When I talk about getting involved in your community, I don’t mean you have to roll up your sleeves and go door-to-door trying to get signatures on a petition, or spend your weekends working a phone bank. You don’t have to be a city commissioner. You don’t have to run for school board president.
Getting involved in your community can be as simple as putting in some face time with your neighbors. I cannot tell you how much business I’ve drummed up at my country club. I’m there all the time and everyone knows me, so when anyone on my tennis team wants to buy or sell, they know exactly who to call. (Well, maybe not the ponytail girls.)
When Lucas was in high school, he was on the soccer team. Every one of his friends’ parents who were buying or selling ended up working with me because I was there and they knew me. Honestly, your donations don’t matter nearly as much as your presence. I swear, the worst $7,000 I ever spent was getting my name on the high school scoreboard. Lucas didn’t play football, so no one knew me. I may as well have set fire to that money. (And that’s why I didn’t sponsor the robotics team when they asked, because Lucas wasn’t involved.) To this day, I have the owner of the Atlanta Falcons’ number in my phone, thanks to being involved with my bonus son Nicky’s team sport.
Being involved, whether it’s a school, a club, a team, or a church gives everyone a frame of reference as to who you are and what you’re about. It gives you an opportunity to show your skills, your competence, your personality. The bottom line is that people do business with folks they like, so it’s worth your time to let them get to know and like you.
My grandson is starting kindergarten this year (oh, my heart!) so I told Victoria, “You go to that school and you sign up for everything. Be the team parent or the class mom. Sign up to chaperone all the field trips. Volunteer for everything.” I told her the more she’s in front of people, the more she’ll build relationships.
It’s just that easy!
@glenndabaker The ponytail girls have nothing on the senior ladies when it comes to tennis! Those old girls tugged me around like a rag doll! #GlenndaBa… See more
GLENNDA’S GURUS
Hello, Taylor Hack
I am delighted to introduce y’all to Mr. Taylor Hack! I think he might be my first Canadian guru. There’s a lot to be impressed about here, but what really gets me is that within his first three years in the business, he broke into the top 2% of RE/MAX agents in the dang world. Taylor is 1,000,000% someone to watch! He has one of the most strategic minds I’ve ever encountered and I promise you I am never going to challenge him to a game of chess. (Off topic, I might be a little bit obsessed with his dogs.) Anyway, I hope y’all enjoy our chat as much as I did!
Thank you, Taylor! (And I mean, look at them!)

Oh, My Stars and Stripes
Buckle up, because I have the best new listing that’s going to take your breath away!
My sellers bought this house a year ago and put in $400K worth of upgrades, only to find themselves transferred out of this glorious golf course community. So they’ve got to leave behind this 8,000+ square foot masterpiece with its second kitchen and exquisite pool. It’s move-in ready on a cul-de-sac street with a first floor guest suite for those who need a step-less solution. But for those who opt for the second floor, there’s an onyx soaking tub and an oversized seamless shower. (Onyx!!) Every finish is exquisite and every detail thoughtful, beautiful, and functional. This place is truly the full package!
