Feeling the Christmas Spirit yet?

The holiday season is officially upon us, which means the next four weeks will be filled with holiday shopping, company parties, end-of-year traditions, and, in all likelihood, a slowdown in home listings and sales.

Of course, if all this holiday cheer always has you feeling a little grinchy, there are plenty of places you can go to ride out the month until Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas” goes into its annual 10-month hibernation.

Today, for the introverts, I’ve got a survivalist compound in the middle of nowhere, perfect for months of seclusion where you can feel your own special kind of self-sustaining tidings and joy.

After that, you won’t want to miss some more ⛔Secluded Survival Shelters, some stunning 💰Endowed Estates (heritage compounds that only come around once in a generation), three🎡Wild Windmills (including one on a Greek isle for less than ½ million Euros), and finally, some💲Affordable A-Frames!

Now, off to Tennessee. Home of country music, Dollywood, some kickin’ barbecue, and…this property, which you’ll find in Savannah, a rural community squarely south of the midway point from Memphis to Nashville, making it the official middle of nowhere.

I want to point out that this house is legit. It was built in 2010, so it’s still fairly modern but has a ton of old-school farmhouse appeal. The picturesque Indian Creek runs through the property, separating the house from the 60+ acres of fields and woodlots, which you could cultivate yourself or lease out for some extra income.

No solicitors are knocking will be your door – the property is fenced along the road frontage, with a gated concrete driveway that cuts through the spacious front lawns.

Let’s go inside the beautiful home, and you know how much I love a good kitchen, so let’s start there. Open floor plan ✅ Modern appliances ✅ Lots of storage ✅

There’s a dining area, too, with lovely views out both sides:

There are two bedrooms upstairs, and they share a large but rather mundane full bath. The primary suite is downstairs, with a spacious bedroom with a fireplace and a sitting area that opens onto the back patio.

Let’s discuss the porch and patio before I move on to the “home office.”

Oh, yeah, I could entertain here. It’s seriously a Southern dream space. Shade, big fans, and plenty of room to cook and serve some amazing outdoor eats and pass the sweet tea. I like this house. It looks comfortable and fun to live in. But it’s got an incredible secret.

What’s advertised as a home office is, in reality, a bunker. A darned nice one, too. Let’s take a little trip to the property’s “office building.”

Yup. Those are solar panels, a lookout tower, barbed wire fencing, and a camo carport. Gotta be prepared for anything these days, I guess?

Here’s the top floor/above-ground portion of the bunker and where the home office designation came from. If this is your home office, I’m a little concerned about what your “job” is… but let’s continue.

The ground level also has meeting space, storage, a medical care station, laundry appliances, and a commercial kitchen. From there on in, it’s all about food and necessities. And this place is STOCKED.

There’s an empty room meant to be a bunkhouse and these bathrooms:

This bunker has it all. This is such a weird thing to say, but it’s probably the nicest survival shelter I’ve ever seen.

The house is cozy, the bunker is spacious, and the landscape is gorgeous, so I can’t think of any reason why it wouldn’t be the perfect place to ride out a zombie apocalypse, World War 3, or (for you Scrooges,) just the Holidays.

What do you think? Is this a country charmer, or save it for another prepper-farmer?

‘Til next time!
